The Mayor of Hamburg visits the QSea lab
August 20, 2024
On August 1st 2024 we were honoured to welcome the First Mayor of Hamburg Dr. Peter Tschentscher, who came to see the QSea I quantum computer demonstrator at the DLR QCI Innovation Center in Hamburg. He was welcomed by Jan Henrik Leisse, Christian Piltz, Christoph Georges (eleQtron), Christian Wiebus (NXP Semiconductors) and Christian Ertler (ParityQC).
QSea I is a one-of-a-kind device: the first full-stack, ion-trap based quantum computer demonstrator made entirely in Germany. It was commissioned by the DLR Quantum Computing Initiative and it combines the expertise of the 3 project partners (NXP, eleQtron and ParityQC).
A year and a half after launching our project, we have made big leaps towards making QSea I fully operational. We’re looking forward for it to become available to DLR’s research and industry partners who will perform first experiments with the new device. And we are not stopping there: with QSea II, we aim to push the technology further, building a quantum computer with a modular architecture, a scalable design and error correction capabilities.
We are grateful to the First Mayor Peter Tschentscher and the city of Hamburg for the constant support – Hamburg has proven the perfect base for the ParityQC team in Germany!
