Nature Spin-off Prize
Spin-off nominated for Nature Prize
This year, for the first time, the Nature Spin-off Prize will be awarded to provide an international stage for outstanding academic spin-offs. The Innsbruck-based quantum technology company ParityQC has now been selected from over 150 applicants as one of the most promising spin-offs and presented in a supplement of the renowned journal Nature.
The spin-off award was established by Nature Research in collaboration with Merck KGaA, Darmstadt. The aim of the prize is to make academic entrepreneurs and their companies visible and support them worldwide. All university spin-off companies founded since 2016 were eligible to apply. In addition to the twelve finalists announced Tuesday, the jury selected 32 promising companies as “one-to-watch.” Among them is Innsbruck-based spin-off ParityQC, founded last year, which is being built by Co-CEOs Wolfgang Lechner and Magdalena Hauser and aims to set the global standard for quantum optimization.
